all ’bout that brass
Converse. Torrential monsoon like raindrops. Navigating on my phone from Willesden. All not ideal, especially when confronted with a broken sofa outside… actually think is the exact Ikea sofa i have -hmmm mental note! I checked the postcode 3 times, checked i hadn’t put in ‘road’ instead of ‘street’ and then luckily two people emerged from within on to the cracked path, me= “oh hi guys!” … met with blank stares. Perfect. I’m definitely in the wrong postcode. “Hi umm is this so n so road?” them: “yes” “Ah ok… (awk pause) um ok um I think I have the wrong house” (at this point they’re looking totally bewildered at this damp slightly manic n probably pink person on what I can only assume is their doorstep) “Who are you looking for?” the dad like figure enquires suspiciously, teenage girl probably on her way to school does not look impressed that I’m holding them up “Ahhh um ummm the shoot..? I’m meant to be shooting (?) here today” *insert equally baffled awkward face* “Oh yes. Go in” … Cool.
I’m obviously looking radiant today and look like I certainly belong. Anyway I’ve arrived! And most importantly there’s a roof and hopefully a radiator to bake my shoes upon!
Only downside is I’m shooting for a high street homeware brand… so all the downstairs rooms are filled up with secret sofas/pictures/lamps to shoot. The spacious floor to ceiling shots are not going to be happening today! Alas. The space is generous though with lots of quirky touches so what looks to be a not-so obvious location house upon the outside is crammed with touches and a great starting canvas backdrop on the inside.

The front room is full of lovely features, the brass tiled wall being the obvious star here. Even shimmering in the dank light tis very atmospheric and a great base for styling against it, perfectly in juxtaposition against the panelled white wood, which makes it zing even more. LOVES it. My instagram life tells me its made by Quirky Interiors based out in my former homelands of Herts, soon may need to go have a peruse at their stuff asap. The walls and ceiling are part distressed with beautiful metal flower lights giving an ethereal glow to the rawness and highlighting the pretty blue paintwork. The light outside is so so dim though that catching much detail without taking over the shoot and lighting set up is not really poss! Damn you monsoon!

The whole ground floor is full of gorgeous styling plants and flowers propped against every surface and I get to demonstrate the wipe-clean technology upon the upholstery… only actually bloody works! Zero post trickery needed! And before I know it my time here is done, barely even got to pap the loo (often a fave source of inspo!) Farewell north westerly house, I’ll be careful not to slide into that abandoned sofa upon my exit.

love the panels… and obv the plants
